I have had my prescription for the combi-patch filled for at least two months, but - am afraid of the patches. My doctor told me I was doing well - and had gotten thru the worst of the first stages of menopause. At the time of my visit - I talked to her about hormones - but, she said as long as I was ok - not to worry about taking them.
After reading about the hormones - I decided to ask for a prescription - but, then after filling it - decided not to use the patches. I have night sweats - and always feel much like I did just before my period - but, what is bothering me most is my hair not growing - thinning - and my skin's elasticity is worsening. I work really hard to stay in good shape - eat the right things - and it's bothering me that my skin and hair are turning on me - so I decided to try the patches to see if it helps me.
I'm not sure what my expectations are - but, I'm hoping that I will feel less tired and that my skin tone will improve some. I'm not expecting much for my hair - my hair has always been thin - but, it would be nice if it would grow. I'm already eating sunflower seeds - and have added wheat germ to my diet.
I try to do what I call a "workout" daily. I like listening to all kinds of music - and I like to dance in my little room upstairs - so I call that exercising - the way I look at it - as long as I'm moving - it's better than sitting. I bought a bungie chord to dance with - and hopefully - get rid of that flabby underarm thing - that prevents me from robustly waving hello to people - Dancing is also weight bearing exercise - so I'm having fun and doing something that is good for my bones. I am petite and likely to get osteoperosis - so I'm doing what I can to prevent it.
I liken dealing with Menopause to playing Wack a Mole. It seems everyday I'm dealing with a new problem, but, overall I'd say I'm pretty lucky - I'm keeping an open mind and listening to other women for ways to improve this new age of mine. |
